Our PolicIes
Membership
-
Our membership program is for the motivated musician interested in consistent development. No annual or semester long commitments. Subscriptions are month-to-month.
-
All lessons on a membership subscription are held in-person at our Allston location. Students enrolled in Private Lesson Memberships or Flex Plans may request to meet online if they prefer. Online lesson availability is subject to instructor approval and technical capability, as not all teachers facilitate online sessions.
The subscription is a recurring monthly payment plan for private lessons (weekly or Flex Plan), Roadmap Classes, and Heavy Chemistry. Tuition is billed automatically on the 1st day of each month for the entire month of lessons using Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or AMEX (AUTO-PAY).
There is a $25 registration fee applied to any new membership at the point of purchase.
Our lesson membership is a flat fee meaning you pay the same price regardless if there are four (4) or five (5) lessons in a month.
To reserve a future lesson time with an instructor, a $40 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of enrollment. This deposit holds your spot and protects our instructors in case of no-shows or payment issues. The deposit will be applied to your first invoice when your membership begins.
Number of Lessons:Students receive 48-51 lessons per year depending on the day of the week enrolled. See our public holidays section below.
Late Payment Fee:There is a $20 late fee for membership payments made after the 10th of the month.
Private Membership Prices

$279 per month (45-minutes per week)

Membership Cancellation
All students planning to un-enroll and have their subscriptions canceled are required to fill out our Membership Hold & Cancel Form on our website. The request must be submitted by the 23rd of the month prior to the month in which the membership is to be terminated.
Please review the Change of Membership Status section below for more details on cancelling memberships.

Subscription Holds:
If a temporary leave from lessons is required, a student's subscription can be placed “On Hold” for up to 4 weeks. Requesting a Hold is beneficial for students looking to keep their time slot with an instructor for when they return.
We require a minimum of 2-weeks of missed lessons to process a subscription Hold.
Additionally, Subscription Hold requests longer than four weeks will be considered a cancellation. However, for students who wish to keep their time slot beyond four weeks, an extended hold may be offered at our discretion. Extended holds may not exceed six weeks in total.
Students are required to define a re-start date to qualify as a Hold and provide payment for the month of restart to hold their lesson slot with their instructor. This payment is non-refundable.
Any student looking to temporarily hold their subscription(s) are required to fill out our Membership Hold & Cancel Form on our website by the 23rd of each month.
Example: Student X is choosing to take the summer off from lessons Starting on June 1 but wants to return to lessons the first week in July. Student X submits a Subscription Hold Request before May 23rd indicating their summer pause and corresponding dates. All student X’s lessons in June are canceled and Student X is billed for July to reserve their slot with their instructor.
Group Class Subscription Holds
Group Class students (Roadmap classes and Heavy Chemistry) may place their classes on hold for up to 4 weeks only. To reserve their time slot during the hold period, students must prepay their return invoice in full (non-refundable). Holds longer than four weeks are not permitted and will be treated as cancellations.
Switching Plans
Students may switch their lesson plan at any time simply by emailing us at info@loudlandsmusic.com. No additional form is required.
We are happy to accommodate any changes, including:
Switching between 30, 45, or 60-minute lessons
Adjusting between different plan types (weekly lessons, Flex Plans, Roadmap Classes, Heavy Chemistry)
Adjusting Heavy Chemistry plan between Basic and Premium
Please note that plan changes are processed on a rolling basis and are not subject to the 23rd deadline that applies to other account changes. Switching plans does not result in a refund or prorated credit for the current month.
Our team will confirm your new plan and ensure your billing is adjusted accordingly for the following month.
Un-enrollment:
All students planning to un-enroll and have their subscriptions canceled are required to fill out ourMembership Hold & Cancel Form(which can also be accessed in the footer of our website) to notify management of their plans and complete an exit survey.
Students must complete the Membership Hold & Cancel Form by the 23rd of the month to have their subscription canceled by the 1st of the following month.
If a student fills out the Membership Hold & Cancel Form after the 23rd of the month they will be charged for the following month and the cancellation will take place after that final charge.
All makeup credits in your account will expire in 90-days from the membership end date. Credits are non-refundable.
Any students who re-enroll in a membership have to pay the $25 registration fee.
There are no exceptions to this policy, and we do not issue refunds. Thank you for understanding.
-
Group classes and bands are not eligible for makeup credits. However, if Loudlands Music Lab is unable to provide the service due to staff availability, a makeup credit will be issued.
If all members of a band or class are unable to attend a rehearsal or session and notify both their instructor and Loudlands Administration at least 24 hours in advance, Loudlands Music Lab may, at its discretion, issue a makeup credit on a case-by-case basis, depending on staff and room availability.
Your monthly tuition reserves your spot in the class and supports the experience for everyone involved — not just the minutes of instruction.
Please plan your schedule accordingly and be mindful that missing a session may impact your personal progress and the flow of the group. We appreciate your understanding and commitment to the community.
Trial & Single Lessons
-
Each new student is eligible to receive one (1) 45-minute trial lesson at the discounted price of $1. If a student is interested in trial lessons on multiple instruments or with multiple teachers before making a selection, they can book additional trial lessons at our full trial lesson prices, listed below.
Students can purchase and schedule Trial and Single lessons themselves through our website.

Cancellations + Rescheduling + Lesson Credits
-
We require a minimum of 24 hours notice to cancel a lesson. If enough notice is provided, students may cancel and reschedule their lesson directly through their student portal on Opus1.
All lesson cancellations must be completed by the student through their Opus1 portal. Requests to cancel by email, phone, or text cannot be processed by staff.
If a student cancels or attempts to cancel their lesson within 24 hours of the scheduled start time, the lesson will be forfeited. There are no exceptions to this policy. Thank you for understanding.
If a student is unsure about a reschedule date for a future lesson they can take a lesson credit and schedule it at a later time.
Students can schedule and reschedule their recurring subscription lessons at any point with the instructor of their choice.
When rescheduling subscription lessons for future months, tuition for that month must be paid in full before the lesson can be rescheduled or converted to a lesson credit.
Lesson credits incurred from rescheduling future lessons will expire after 90-days on active as well as canceled subscription plans.
Students may only accumulate a maximum of 3 student requested credits at a given time. Students must schedule subsequent credits before being able to cancel more lessons from their profile.
-
In the event an instructor is unavailable, Loudlands Music Lab will first attempt to provide a qualified substitute instructor.
If a substitute instructor cannot be arranged for the regular lesson time, a lesson credit will automatically be issued to the student’s account.
Lesson credits issued due to Loudlands Music Lab being unable to facilitate a scheduled lesson do not expire while the student’s subscription remains active.
If a student chooses not to take a lesson with a provided substitute, the cancellation will be treated as a student-initiated cancellation, and the standard student rescheduling policy will apply - including the 90-day credit expiration and credit limits.
If a student’s membership is canceled, any active instructor-issued lesson credits will remain valid for 90-days from the final day of their active subscription.
Other Policies
-
Our studio will be closed on the following dates:
July 4 (Day-of-Week changes annually)
Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday, and the Saturday after Thanksgiving
December 24 - January 1 (Holiday Break)
Students on memberships will be charged their normal monthly rates during these months. These holiday closed dates are factored into our yearly prices. There are no exceptions. Thank you for understanding.
-
If a state of emergency is declared or there is an outstanding circumstance that would warrant a shutdown of transportation or use of the roads, lessons may be canceled in response. Any lessons canceled due to uncontrollable circumstances will be credited to the student to be rescheduled. Lesson credits due to a state of emergency do not expire as long as the student’s membership is active.
-
Each year we will reassess whether it is necessary to increase costs of lessons based on business objectives. Students will be notified as to any tuition increase at least one month prior to the increase.
-
Students are required to purchase their own lesson materials including musical equipment, books, notebooks, folders, etc.
-
At Loudlands Music Lab, we value and respect the privacy, creativity, and ownership rights of all students and instructors.
Privacy & Media Use
Photos, videos, and recordings taken of students (or created by them during Loudlands programs) may be used for educational, promotional, or archival purposes on our website, social media, or other communication platforms with the approval of the student or parent/guardian.
We take privacy seriously and will honor any request to keep a student’s information, likeness, or creative work private.

Ownership of Created Works
From time to time, students may create original works during lessons, classes, rehearsals, or recording sessions at Loudlands—such as original songs, beats, compositions, or recordings. To ensure clarity and fairness, the following terms apply:
Student Ownership: Unless otherwise agreed in writing, students retain full ownership of any original compositions, lyrics, or creative works they author or perform.
Shared and Collaborative Works: In cases where a creative work is developed collaboratively with other students, instructors, or as part of a Loudlands-organized group (e.g., Heavy Chemistry bands or production classes), ownership may be shared among contributors, and Loudlands reserves a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, record, and promote such works for educational and promotional purposes.
Studio & Production Materials: Any recordings, videos, or media produced using Loudlands facilities or staff may be archived and used by Loudlands for promotional, marketing, or internal educational purposes. Students are welcome to request copies for personal use.
Custom Agreements: For any advanced recording projects, releases, or monetized collaborations that originate at Loudlands, specific ownership and usage rights will be defined through a written agreement prior to publication or release.
We aim to celebrate and promote the creativity of our students while protecting the rights of everyone involved.
