A rewarding experience
“Teaching at Loudlands is a uniquely rewarding experience in ways that I didn't expect when I first started. Sure, coming to work in a room full of instruments is cool and all, but the student base really sets it apart. Working largely with adult students, I get to connect with people from all sorts of backgrounds and build bonds over the shared interest of drumming. I've come to thoroughly enjoy challenging students to push through the discomfort of the early learning stages in order to break through to the freedom of expression on the other side. Additionally, my most advanced students motivate me to continue developing my own skills, both as a teacher and musician. To top it off, the admin team is massively helpful with managing scheduling and the business side of things.”

What we’re looking for
We're building a team of musicians who love to teach and want to be part of a growing, high-vibe studio.
✅ 1–3+ years of teaching experience
✅ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in music (completed)
✅ Available at least 3 days per week, including one weekend day
✅ Weekday availability from 2–9 PM and weekend availability from 10 AM–5 PM
✅ Advanced ability on your instrument and strong musicianship
✅ Confident, clear communicator who can lead a lesson with presence and ease
✅ Emotionally intelligent and socially aware—you’re good with people
✅ Excited about teaching and building long-term relationships with students
✅ Not overly committed to wedding bands or GB gigs
✅ Cultural fit—collaborative, self-aware, and community-minded

Loudlands Music Lab is conveniently located in Allston “Rock City” in the heart of a bustling rehearsal studio. We are steps away from coffee shops and restaurants and down the block of some of the best music venues in the city.

Yes—we require a completed bachelor’s or master’s degree in music. We do not hire current university students or recent grads without teaching experience.

Most teaching happens during weekday afternoons and evenings (2–9 PM), and weekends (10 AM–5 PM). Instructors must be available at least three days per week, including one weekend day.

Yes! All of our teachers are actively engaged in the local Boston music scene as performers or creators. It's important to our culture that we lead by example—but we’re looking for instructors who prioritize teaching over touring or GB gigs. Our ideal candidate is excited to build a consistent, reliable teaching schedule with us.

No—all lessons are taught on-site at our Loudlands facility. We don’t offer in-home or travel-based instruction. Our studio-based approach allows us to build community, ensure consistency, and give students access to a fully equipped creative environment.

We provide structured curriculum resources for piano, drums, and guitar—but they’re meant to support, not restrict, your teaching. Instructors are encouraged to bring their own style, experience, and creativity to lessons. Our materials serve as flexible roadmaps to help guide your approach—not scripts to follow.

All Loudlands instructors teach private lessons. Select instructors—usually multi-instrumentalists with strong leadership and ensemble skills—also coach bands in our Heavy Chemistry program or lead other group classes. We’re always looking for talented educators who can do both. Group instruction roles are in higher demand and pay at a higher rate, but are reserved for instructors who demonstrate exceptional skill, reliability, and student engagement.
