What do you teach at Loudlands?

Vocals, Bass, Guitar, and Music Production!

When did you start playing?

I started singing lessons in sixth grade, guitar in 8th, and bass in 11th grade.

What's your favorite aspect of music or your instrument?

My favorite aspect of music is balance. When sounds work together harmoniously, they become greater than the sum of their parts!

Who are some of your favorite bands/musicians and why?

My favorite artist is Tame Impala, for his blend of acoustic and electronic sounds, and Parker’s willingness to experiment. Other favorite bands/musicians include Mutemath, Bad Suns, Sure Sure, Hippo Campus, Theo Katzman, Pino Palladino, and Jon Hopkins.

What are some of your current and/or past music projects?

I’ve just recently moved to Boston, but my past music projects include mixing/production for Nashville artists such as DelGrosso, YEARLOVE, Jordan Bradshaw, and Mitch Elle, playing in several Nashville bands, and touring/competing on “Sing That Thing” with a cappella group Univoz!

How would you describe your music and playing style?

I describe my personal music as indie pop-rock, with lots of influences from the bands I mentioned! My guitar/bass playing style is relaxed and very ergonomically focused, and my singing style can range from classical and jazz to pop.

Can you please describe your gear of choice?

My dream home studio would have these instruments: 5-string J-Bass, Hofner Bass, 6-string Fender Telecaster, Juno-60, Fender Rhodes, Ludwig Drum Kit, Istanbul Cymbals. My favorite guitar pedal is the JHS Morning Glory!

Any general advice you'd like to give to beginner musicians or someone looking to get started?

The best piece of advice I can give is to find what you love about playing. Music is meant to be enjoyed at any level, so while you may not be able to rip solos or sing Golden immediately, it’s important to explore and find what you can enjoy at your level. Stay connected with those passions, it’ll help keep you motivated while you work on new techniques.

Aside from playing/making music, what are some of your other interests and hobbies?

Practicing Muai Thai, playing with my cats, playing trading card games, and playing video games with my wife.

If you were battling a physically identical but evil android version of yourself on top of a skyscraper during a thunderstorm and someone miraculously intervened, how would they know which one was the real you?

Ask us a complicated math question, the one that doesn’t know the answer is the real me!!
