Piano and Voice

When did you start singing and producing music?

I started playing piano in early elementary school, and I've been singing since I could talk!

What's your favorite aspect of music or your instrument?

I love music theory- learning how different patterns and techniques can create different emotions. I'm also a big fan of songwriting and using music to support heartfelt lyrics.

Who are some of your favorite bands/musicians and why?

Some of my favorite bands/musicians are Brandi Carlile, Chris Stapleton, and Billy Joel. The masterful lyricism, the soulful vocals, the instrumental technique- these artists tell heart-wrenching stories with their music.

What are some of your current and/or past music projects?

I write and release country/Americana music! I love the roots rock sound, the storytelling, the blues influence. My band and I are in the process of releasing an EP, and we gig around the Boston area. I also used to front an alt rock band that played around Boston 2022-2024.

How would you describe your music and playing style?

My music is lyric-driven and technical. I'm very inspired by country music and the "four chords and the truth" idea. I don't think music needs to be overly complicated in order to be good. To me, writing music is about taking a story or emotion and supporting it through sound. The most important thing music can do, in my eyes, is be relatable- make people feel something they need to feel.

Can you please describe your gear of choice?

For singing live, I use a Sennheiser e935 microphone. For keys, I have a Yamaha MOXF8, which I plug into a PA speaker at gigs.

Any general advice you'd like to give to beginner musicians or someone looking to get started?

Mix challenging yourself with doing things you enjoy. It's important to grow your skill set, but don't be afraid to have fun with your music and celebrate where you're at. After all, music is emotive- it's human. Don't be afraid to be imperfect!

Aside from playing/making music, what are some of your other interests and hobbies?

I love hiking, working out, baking, and (recently) playing chess.

If you were battling a physically identical but evil android version of yourself on top of a skyscraper during a thunderstorm and someone miraculously intervened, how would they know which one was the real you?

The real me can recite the whole rap to "Without Me" by Eminem :D
